End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD): Symptoms, Treatment, and More

End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD): Symptoms, Treatment, and More

End-stage renal disease (ESRD), also known as end-stage kidney disease, occurs when chronic kidney disease develops to an advanced state. In end-stage renal disease, your kidneys are no longer able to work as they are supposed to do. The main function of your kidneys is to filter wastes and dispose fluids from your blood through your urine. When your kidneys lose their filtering capabilities, dangerous levels of fluid, electrolytes and wastes can build up in your body.

End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD): Symptoms, Treatment, and More

When chronic kidney disease is in an early stage, you may not feel symptoms. As chronic kidney disease progresses to end-stage renal disease, signs and symptoms come up gradually, which may include:

  • Nausea and vomiting

  • Loss of appetite

  • Fatigue and weakness

  • Sleep problems

  • Changes in how much you urinate

  • Decreased mental sharpness

  • Muscle twitches and cramps

  • Swelling of feet and ankles

  • Persistent itching

However, these symptoms are not specific, which means they can be caused by other illnesses. Because your kidneys are highly adaptable and able to compensate for lost function, signs and symptoms may not appear until irreversible damage has occurred.

There is no cure for ESRD. Treatments of ESRD include kidney transplant and types of dialysis. Many people live long lives while on dialysis or after having a kidney transplant. Lepu Medical provides an array of comprehensive hemodialysis solutions for ESRD patients to cease their pain and prolong their well-being.

At Lepu Medical, we provide low-flux and high-flux dialyzers that cater to various needs of hemodialysis therapy. Our low-flux dialyzers are efficient in filtering micro molecules. Our high-flux dialyzers will secure fast and thorough removal of micro, middle, and macro molecules. The 3D microwave structure ensures uniform radial dialysate flow around each fiber within the bundle. The smooth dialysate inject port is friendly for connector of dialysis machine. The ultrasonic bonding of the cap avoids blood and dialysate leakage.
