Clinical Spotlight | Simplifying the Treatment of Tandem Carotid Aneurysms with Nuva® Flow Diverter

Recently, our team at Dalian University of Technology Affiliated Central Hospital successfully treated a 61-year-old female patient diagnosed with multiple tandem aneurysms in the right internal carotid artery (C6 segment), accompanied by hypertension. Treatment Highlights: Procedure: Nuva® Flow Diverter implantation Key Measurements: Parent artery proximal diameter 4.4mm; vessel length between anchor points 17mm Device Used: Nuva® TJED-5.0-14 Flow Diverter Surgical Procedure: Via right femoral artery access, we established a stable coaxial pathway using an 8F long sheath and 6F intermediate catheter. Under fluoroscopic guidance, the microcatheter was navigated distal to the aneurysms over a Synchro 0.014” microwire. The Nuva® flow diverter was delivered, positioned, and deployed using a push-and-pull technique, achieving optimal anchoring. Intraoperative angiography confirmed good wall apposition and contrast stagnation within the aneurysms, with no distal branch compromise. Why Nuva®? Traditional management of tandem aneurysms often requires complex stent-assisted coiling with multiple microcatheter manipulations and coil embolizations. By choosing the Nuva® flow diverter, we achieved: Reduced procedural complexity Shorter operation time Effective parent artery reconstruction Satisfactory wall apposition and patency Marked contrast stagnation within the aneurysm sacs Postoperative imaging confirmed full stent expansion and excellent wall apposition. This case further demonstrates that Nuva® flow diverter streamlines the treatment process and offers significant benefits in managing complex aneurysms.
